Dr. John's Bio

 Getting to know the one who provides the Soul Care 

   Dr. John Blackburn founded Soul Care Services in 2019.  Until June, 2021, he served in pastoral ministry in Ohio, Indiana and Kansas over a 40 year span. 


    John is also the co-founder of The Forge (theforge.org), a faith-based organization for men to promote wise counsel and trusted friendships.  He serves as the Director of Counseling Services at The Forge.


   John has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biblical Education, a Master of Religious Education (MRE) degree, and a Doctor of Religious Studies (DRS) degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling.  


   John is a Board Certified Christian Counselor (BCCC) and Professional Certified Life Coach (PCCLC), certified by the Board of Christian Professional Counselors of the American Association of Christian Counselors and Coaches. Dr. John has further Certification through the United Association of Christian Chaplains and Counselors, International.


    John is also a Trained Corporate Chaplain currently serving with Marketplace Chaplains USA helping to provide personalized and compassionate care for corporate employees and their families.  He is also an experienced Facilitator and Trainer for Prepare-Enrich, the premier pre-marriage and marriage online assessment tool used by thousands of pastors, counselors, therapists, and life coaches.


John received his Ordination Certificate in 1984.


   John and his wife, Beth, a.k.a, "Johnny and the Babe" have been happily married since 1982.  They have three grown and married children with twelve - yes twelve - grandchildren.   


   John's passion areas are ministering to married and engaged couples, families, men, and caring for anyone in need.

What Dr. John can do for you

The variety of Soul Care Services that Dr. John offers include professional Christian counseling; life and spiritual-life coaching; relationship coaching; family mediation; consulting; wedding and funeral officiation; marriage and parenting seminars; and itinerant preaching, speaking and training.   He is available to provide these services throughout the year. 


Dr. John's favorite roles are engagement coaching and  officiating wedding ceremonies.  He has coached and then officiated over 100 couples' weddings during his ministerial and counseling/coaching career.  

He is an experienced facilitator and approved trainer with Prepare/Enrich, the premier online pre-marriage and marriage assessment tool used by thousands of pastors, counselors, therapists, and life coaches. 

Dr. John is available throughout the year to provide engagement coaching as well as perform Christian wedding ceremonies - - He would be honored to officiate yours!
